The Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies held an awareness seminar entitled Early Detection of Breast Cancer on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It was delivered by Dr. Zahraa Nahed Al-Alusi at a women’s board – Faculty of Medicine / Tikrit University and attended by a number of female staff members at the college.
The seminar aimed to:
Spreading health awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and introducing the most prominent signs and symptoms that may indicate breast cancer, in addition to clarifying methods of early detection, and the importance of periodic medical check-ups according to age and risk level. Correcting misconceptions and rumors related to breast cancer.
Symposium Recommendations
Holding seminars and periodic awareness campaigns on breast cancer in educational and health institutions, and encouraging women to undergo periodic check-ups and medical consultations when any abnormal symptoms appear. Paying attention to health education for male and female students and encouraging them to convey the correct information to their families and community. Emphasizing the importance of following a healthy lifestyle, practicing physical activity, and maintaining an appropriate weight. Provide psychosocial support to injured women, and encourage them to seek medical care without fear or hesitation.
The symposium emphasized that health awareness, early detection and timely medical review are key pillars to reduce breast cancer complications and improve treatment and cure opportunities.
