The Technical Institute / Al-Dur was established in 1988 and it is one of the Iraqi technical institutes affiliated at the time to the Technical Education Commission / Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and it is located in Salah al-Din Governorate, north of the capital Baghdad and (1) km from the center of Al-Dur district, the study in the institute began in 1989, when the four technical universities were established, the institute became one of the formations of the Northern Technical University, and each department has modern and advanced laboratories and specialized workshops in addition to the information technology division. Starting from the academic year 2009-2010, evening studies were resumed, and the institute currently accommodates more than 4000 students for the morning and evening studies, and it is worth mentioning that the institute was sabotaged by ISIS Takfiri gangs for the academic year 2013/2014, and most of its facilities have been rehabilitated and the process of rehabilitation and development is still ongoing to this day to reach the optimal goal.
